IFP, DCTV, and the New York Television Festival (NYTVF) have teamed for a special free event highlighting small screen opportunities for doc and non-fiction filmmakers.

As the television and digital landscapes continue to expand and the demand for talented multi-medium storytellers reaches an all-time high, this discussion will aim to provide insight on the buyers, the players, the rules of the game, and, most importantly, how non-fiction filmmakers can successfully navigate the terrain. The panel will be moderated by Milton Tabbot, Senior Director of Programming at IFP.

Submission dates for History, Comedy Central and NBC fast approaching!

History Unscripted Development Pipeline
History and the NYTVF are teaming up for an innovative program seeking original unscripted television treatments from independent artists and production companies. History is looking for charismatic male characters living in surprising worlds or with fresh points of view. 25 semi-finalists will be reviewed by the network with five (5) finalists receiving development funding to produce additional tape.

One winner will receive $10,000 and a development opportunity with History Programming!

2ND Annual NYTVF-Comedy Central Short Pilot Competition
The NYTVF and Comedy Central are offering aspiring TV writers and producers the opportunity to win $7,500 and a development deal with Comedy Central! They’re looking for fun, fresh points of view that fit into the Comedy Central brand of comedy. All scripted-comedy formats apply, including sitcoms, animated comedy, and scripted panel and game shows. Non-scripted formats are not applicable for this competition, regardless of hilarity.

Voice and Vision: The NBC Drama Challenge
NBC is looking for the next big, splashy drama, and no topic or genre is off limits. The winner will receive a $25,000 prize along with the chance to develop his/her winning script and/or engage with the network to write additional ideas. Submit your scripts and tape for this great opportunity!
