Enter the 3rd Annual FOX-NYTVF Comedy Script Contest and submit your script for an original half-hour comedy series. 25 Finalists will have their scripts evaluated by FOX for a possible development deal with the network and one winner will receive $25,000 and a development deal. Scripts must be entered by uploading them in a PDF format on the NYTVF upload page, which can be found here beginning June 1, 2010. The submission period will open at noon Eastern Time (ET) on June 1, 2010 and will close at noon ET on June 15. All submissions must be uploaded during this time period, without exception. • The NYTVF is proud to present “Breaking in to Branded Content”
Presented by the Writers Guild of America, East

  • Branded content is one of the fastest growing subsets of entertainment for new media. Different from traditional product placement, branded content means structuring a story or episodic narrative around a brand. This can vary from explicit use of products in a story to developing programming that reflects aspects of a broader brand image. While the WGAE does not cover traditional broadcast advertising, writing branded content for the web CAN be covered under WGAE agreements—resulting in income as well as pension and healthcare contributions for Guild members.
    • How does a writer from traditional media break in?
    • How does a writer bridge the gap between old school advertising and narrative storytelling?
This seminar will address these issues and features writers who have successfully produced branded content for the web as well as producers and other experts in the field of branded storytelling.

Panelists will include representatives from NBC Universal Digital, Blip.TV, Lucky NY and others. We will send another announcement with the names of panelists shortly.

The event is FREE with light refreshments and a chance to socialize after.
