[NEW YORK, NY, October 19, 2012] – The NYTVF today announced that Authentic Entertainment, BET Networks, CABLEready and CableU have been added to its line-up of over 50 industry partners committed to take part in the annual New York Television Festival, kicking off Monday, October 22 in Manhattan. Each is joining the Festival for the first time and will enjoy the benefits of NYTVF Connect, the Festival's exclusive industry concierge program.
Amazon Studios has also signed on as the sponsor of the Independent Pilot Competition's Audience Award, offering a $5,000 development grant to the Festival's audience favorite. Additional IPC awards include previously-announced development awards from IFC, MTV, Syfy and VH1 as well as the second-annual NYTVF Critics Award.
The eighth annual Festival marks the culmination of the NYTVF's year-round development efforts and will welcome over 300 Official Artists to the events slated for October 22 through October 27. In addition to the premiere, panel, screening and special event line-up previously announced, the Festival also serves to connect Official Artists, who represent the top tier of the NYTVF's creative community, with the dozens of television and digital companies that come to the Festival in search of new talent and ideas. [NEW YORK, NY, October 8, 2012] – The NYTVF today announced the schedule highlights of its fifth annual Digital Day, taking place during the upcoming New York Television Festival on Friday, October 26 at 92YTribeca and Tribeca Cinemas. The annual gathering of new media power players, content creators and enthusiasts – which includes a line-up of free panels, screenings and parties – is headlined by primetime offerings from Samsung and CW Digital.
The previously-announced Samsung Pitch Live! event will feature the five finalists in the first-ever Samsung Second Screen Storytellers Competition presenting their multi-screen concepts for a chance to earn a $300,000 production budget to make their original series for Samsung Smart TVs. CW Digital, The CW Network’s digital only content studio, will bow its upcoming digital series, Stupid Hype, with a world premiere screening of the online exclusive series followed by a talk-back with the series creators.

[NEW YORK, NY, September 27, 2012] – The NYTVF today announced the schedule highlights of its eighth annual New York Television Festival, including primetime events from The CW, MTV, FOX, and the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA). The Festival's opening night event on October 22 will feature the world premiere screening of The CW's hotly anticipated mid-season addition, The Carrie Diaries, followed by a talk-back featuring the show's star, AnnaSophia Robb, along with series executive producer Amy Harris and author/executive producer Candace Bushnell.
With only two weeks remaining in the 2012 Presidential campaign, the head writers of New York's late night staples The Late Show with David Letterman, The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon will sit down for a humorous inside-look at the ‘politics of funny’ during the NYTVF's annual Late Night Writers panel on Tuesday, October 23. The eight housemates of Jersey Shore will join MTV network execs and the series creator for a no-holds-barred final-season series retrospective on Wednesday, October 24 entitled “Love, Loss, (Gym, Tan) and Laundry: A Farewell to the Jersey Shore.” On Friday, October 26, the Festival will cast a spotlight on the NEW FOX TUESDAY comedy block featuring talent from New Girl and Ben and Kate.

Free the TV Challenge III – “Second Screen Storytellers” is Samsung’s third Free the TV Challenge, following successful competitions in 2010 and 2011. [NEW YORK, NY, April 25, 2012] – Lifetime and the NYTVF today announced the launch of a partnered initiative providing indie producers and production companies with the opportunity to develop unscripted programming with the cable powerhouse. Submitting producers should focus on concepts and characters that revolve around big, unique personalities and worlds that bring a fresh perspective to the television landscape.
The pipeline is modeled after a similar initiative first launched with the NYTVF and Lifetime's sister network, A&E, in 2011, the second installment of which wrapped its submission period in earlier this month. Similar to the A&E initiatives, 25 semifinalists in the Lifetime Unscripted Development Pipeline will have their submissions reviewed by Lifetime executives, as well as invited to participate in the 2012 New York Television Festival - held October 22-27 in lower Manhattan – as Official Artists. Five finalists will then receive development funding from the network to produce additional tape, with one winner awarded with $10,000 and the opportunity to participate in the production of a pilot based on their concept. While the network's audience and focus is primarily women, participants are encouraged to consider broadly appealing scenarios that are multi-demographic, relevant and contemporary.
